Someone told me that the African words for "Hello" mean--"I see you" and the response is--"I am here." American children of African descent I SEE YOU. You are wonderful. This book is a peak into our unique, rich history. I hope it inspires you to reach further and learn about yourself, Africa, America and our journey. Dedra Spears-Johnson, a first time author, is the mother of 2 children--Devin a 10 year old boy and Mya, a 5 year old girl. She is the wife of a wonderful husband Alvin. Dedra is the co-founder of a non-profit agency that serves persons affected by HIV/AIDS. She received her BA from Mercer University and graduate degree from Central Michigan University. Dedra and her family currently reside in Prince George's County, a suburb near The District of Columbia.
