Extend the teaching opportunities of the MathStart series with this new series of three books. Integrating children's literature into your mathematics program can be a fresh, enriching experience for both you and your students. Students will learn to appreciate math in a fun and non-threatening way with the charming stories of Stuart J. Murphy and common classroom manipulatives. The activities, created by renowned educators Don Balka and Richard Callan, offer hands-on experiences to teach students the core topics covered by each MathStart book.

The engaging activities are practical for classroom use and easy to prepare. Reproducible resources are provided where need to minimize preparation time. Activities are followed by Writing and Reinforcement ideas. Useful as assessment tools, these demonstrate student understanding and retention after activity completion. Where appropriate, Internet links and suggested further reading offer still more resources.
