Careful attention is paid to the customs and beliefs of these peoples. Their legends, philosophies, and forms of government are discussed, and their origins, language, names, dwellings, tools, food, games, and crafts are studied. Activities include: grid mapping, geography vocabulary, which means which, cedar search, clothing, handy units of measure, flow chart of a whale hunt, where did the colors come from?, tools, write a myth, name the tribes, and crossword. Projects include: 3-D geography, make a northwest coast village, make a chilkat blanket, catch a fish, build a box, make a totem pole, and a potlatch (party).
