The Lost Feather is a children's book about the friendship that develops between and ant and a pug. The ant, Leslie, wears glasses and is of course tiny. She is nervous to be around larger animals. Her grandfather gave her a feather that was to protect her and give her courage. She loses the feather and eventually begins searching for it. During her search she meets a friendly pug named Pugsly and together they go searching for the feather. They meet other friends during the search such as Monique the turtle and Red the chipmunk. No one has seen a feather. Leslie at one point wonders if someone stole it, so she and Pugsly discuss the issue of accusing without proof. They decide to keep looking and investigate. During their adventure they discover the wind blew the feather away during the night. Leslie is distraught over this. Pugsly explains that she has not needed any help from the feather in their search. And that they were around many larger animals all day. Leslie agrees and Pugsly also explains that maybe the feather is moving on to help someone else develop security and courage. Leslie doesn't need it anymore. She is excited and they continue on for many more adventures to come. The two were brought together by a loss but held together by friendship.
