Gabby Gonzo is a creative ten-year-old girl. She and her imaginative eight-year-old brother, Danny, enjoy neighborhood adventures. One day, Gabby and Danny ride their bicycles outside of town. They discover a beautiful area with meadows and a river. In the middle of the river is a small island. They begin to visit the area almost every weekend. On one particular visit, Danny decides to play a practical joke on Gabby. He pretends to have gotten hurt on the island and calls to Gabby. She runs from the beach across the half-frozen river to save him. Gabby crashes into the ice cold and deadly river and is rescued by an angel named Dehlia. Dehlia helps Gabby and Danny with their problems. Dehlia meets up with a misguided angel named Micca, and the battle for good begins.
