To celebrate, the Sleeping Council has planned a massive festival to honor Jonathan and those who helped bring about this year of peace. At the celebration, the Sleeping Council is attacked by a band of strange beings, and the Key to Slumber is stolen. Once again, Jonathan and his friends, including the father of all nightmaresCthe Boogie ManCmust find a way to save the Land of Slumber. Their journey will take them deep into the Outlands, where the magic of the land of dreams becomes an unpredictable thing, and finally, into a world where the companions' most formidable weaponsCthe powers of Jonathan and the Boogie ManCwill become useless. The companions need to get the Key to Slumber back in order to save the land of dreams, but to save the Land of Slumber, they must first find a way to save themselves.
