It is a story that children will love to read, and it is an excellent literary choice to be read to children by an adult. It is illustrated in watercolors and acrylics, with each page revealing the happiness and/or sadness experienced by the dog, and ultimately by the little boy in the story. The callous acts of September 11, 2001 and the malice or evil intent behind the tragedy took the lives of so many people. America wept for those that were killed and their families. The book does not put emphasis on the tragedy but directs the reader�EURTMs attention to how the characters deal with their loss. The parallel intent of Jake�EURTMs American Story is to provide the reader with an interesting story and to use the contents of the book as a counseling tool to help children cope with the loss of a loved one.
