The Talking Crayons is a colorful fiction picture book for young readers (ages 5-10). It's a story where children are put in the form of crayons. Crystal Clear crayon, a new color crayon, moves into the colorful crayon neighborhood and all the colorful crayons show a dislike for her because she's different from all of them as she's a clear color. All the colorful crayons expose their true feelings to Crystal Clear crayon, (which shows how cruel and mean children can be when another child is different). With their bragging on how wonderful they are, how beautiful, everyone adores and loves them, and the list goes on and on, Crystal Clear crayon's feelings are hurt, however, she has a plan.

She explains to them that even though she's different she's still the same as all of them and can help with all their colors, and what their colors can mean to others. In the end they realize she's right and ask for her forgiveness in the way they all had treated her, as they had failed in believing in what she was telling them. Now all the colorful crayons understand the difference in another crayon's special gift of color and through that gift of color, caring and sharing and loving thy neighbor is very important, but especially love, which is the most important gift of all for them and for everyone.
