The story of Esther is unique and interesting. As the plot unravels, the reader will finds himself caught up in the engaging happenings of Biblical times. Haman, chief minister of King Xerxes, persecutes the Jews, causing great fear among them. Mordecai refuses to bow down and honour Haman when the occasion calls for him to do so, almost leads to the destruction of all the Jews living in Persia. God's mercy and care, however, causes the Jewish people to prevail. Haman was hanged on the gallows he had made for Mordecai; his sons were later hanged, as the Jews fought back and defeat their enemies.
