MoreA state-of-the-art parent's guide and its wildly popular companion CD-the "totally gross" and "awesome" off-beat quiz-show game for today's pre-teens. The kids are challenged to compete as contestants in a TV quiz show conducted by a cast of "cool" characters with plenty of attitude. Featuring fast action and horrifyingly wonderful subjects, BrainBarf promotes learning through non-traditional game play, high-quality educational content, and absolute fun.
The BrainBarf Parent-Teacher's Guide includes the answers and their rationale for all the questions in the CD game. All questions are derived from public school curriculum standards and designed to reinforce knowledge and stimulate learning in children ages 9 through 12. Listed at the beginning of each section are the major subject areas and important concepts - welcome assistance to parents and educators in the development of lesson plans. The Guide and its companion CD game can each be used independently of the other, allowing a customized learning experience.
The BrainBarf game is set during the filming of a TV quiz show at the fanciful studios of BBRF-TV. Several endearing puppet characters operate the TV studio while the children participate in the quiz show as contestants. The game features several humorous topic videos that are presented in order to introduce the subject of the questions in the game. The questions are presented in a light-hearted fashion that appeals to kids, especially pre-teens, keeping their interest without sounding too "adult".
The main performer is a cat named MaynardTM, an older brother figure who spends a lot of time trying to keep the rest of the characters in line. Maynard is very patient, but is clearly harried by the challenge of maintaining discipline amongst the rest of the independent-minded cast.
DogmoreTM is the trouble maker of the group. He is a bulldog that sports a very fashionable black T shirt, and is far more interested in having a good time than in whatever work Maynard is trying to get done. Dogmore exhibits a great deal of creativity. He is usually involved in sporting activities like trying out a new golf driver on the set of the quiz show, image enhancement projects such as re-carving Mount Rushmore in his own image, or just plain cutting up.
The female lead is NutmegTM, a sometimes stiff and prissy fox. She sees herself as completely mature and responsible, and is therefore a natural target for the irreverent Dogmore. Although she is extremely self confident, and does not tolerate disrespect, she can be easily goaded into losing her temper and composure. The typical response to a water pistol attack by Dogmore is for Nutmeg to borrow a fire truck and douse the dog with a fire hose.
