"Monkeys usually are quite spunky, but not the case with Chunky Monkey." Even though he lives in a "progressive" zoo, where the baby elephants do ceramics and the camels swing upon a hammock, his love of bananas gets him into big trouble with the zoo board of directors, as well as slighted by the other animals in the zoo. Made to sit in a tree and pretend to be an owl (to cure his overeating), Chunky Monkey escapes, and finds his way back to the zoo to discover that his friends really care about him after all, and accept him just the way he is.

Illustrated and written in rhyme by Chunky Monkey's creator, cartoonist Pauline Comanor, The Story of Chunky Monkey, is truly a treat for all ages. Little monkeys can follow Chunky Monkey's adventures with their own cuddly (and slightly plump!) Chunky Monkey doll.
