It hadn't occurred to me until then that I had been eating actual animals...I had been eating my friends!"

The Summer Cat Caper is about the most amazing adventure that happened to young animal-activist Ingrid Lundstrom and her best friends Geeta and Larry. The day after school ends, Ingrid notices a neighbor carrying home what looked to be a tiny furry animal. That same afternoon, her brother finds a skinny, dirty cat eating the stale bread that had been thrown into the backyard for the birds. So begins a summer quest to rescue the rest of a neglected litter of kittens from a neighbor's locked garage.
