Present day in the small town of Briarbush. Eleven-year-old Nathan is an only child, whose family owns a mixed-terrier dog named Spot. Boy and dog are as close as brothers, and they have a secret, which will change their lives.

Since Spots arrival as a puppy four years ago, Nathan has been teaching Spot tricks. When his working parents would be late coming home, a plan was in place for Nathan to order a pizza; if theyd be very late, hed walk over to Grams, who lived close by, and sleep over. On this unusual day, Nathan had just finished a report for school and was preparing to go to Grams when an emergency call from her to help with a flood set him off course. He left the report on the kitchen table for his parents to see and sign. He planned to stop by and pick it up on his way to school in the morning. But, he forgot to feed Spot before he left.

Spot waited as long as his hungry stomach would allow, before doing his secret trick. He ordered a pizza by fax!
The regular pizza delivery boy was busy, and his younger brother, Ronald, made the delivery. Ronald happened to be running against Nathan for school president. Seeing no one home, and finding Nathans report on the kitchen table, Ronald, overcome by his jealousy, ripped up Nathans report and hid the pieces under the pizza box, hoping that the report would be thrown away with the box. Ronald leaves, Spot feasts. A leftover slice and a gooey box and some pieces of paper remain on the kitchen floor.

The next morning, Nathan finds his report missing. The family discovers the mysterious pizza. Nathan finds his torn report, remembers that he didnt feed Spot, and deduces that Spot ate the pizza But there are two mysteries to solve. Where did the pizza come from, and how did Nathans report get into the box? A friend of the family, a detective, points out the papers are evenly torn, Spot couldnt do that. The secret about Spot fax/phone ordering the pizza himself surfaces when Nathan confesses that he taught Spot the trick, and that they also play a video game together. To prove his story, he stages a demonstration.
**
The family is dumbfounded, and happy. The detective calls Spot Cyberdog, uncovers who delivered the pizza, and Ronalds story comes out. The school principal dictates a fitting punishment.
**
The kids at school find out about the dog who ordered a pizza. Ronalds misdemeanor is kept secret. Soon the newspapers and television are full of Cyberdogs abilities. And Nathan becomes aware of the power that being famous brings with it. When Ronalds deed leaks, and the kids consider him lower than nothing, Nathan sees a solution that is good for both of them. He withdraws from the election, which he didnt want to win from the beginning, and forces Ronald to win. Ronald now has the opportunity to reclaim his self-respect and the kids respect by his deeds as school president.
