After surveying the scene and suspecting foul play, Gabriel determines to save the lad even if it means putting his own life in jeopardy and putting the mysterious lad on his back for the entire trek back. Eventually, the two reach safety in Tungulin, but not before the lad exhibits arrogant disdain and Gabriel wages a fierce and bloody battle with two disgusting assassins who had been stalking them.
Old Wizard Dedlin Dane immediately recognizes the boy as King Day, and more. A fantastic tale of an ancient kingdom and curse unfolds, and King Day is soon off on a quest that must not fail. Dane is to be his guide. A select band of brave, good men, including Gabriel, accompany them as they persevere through a wondrous airborne battle with a warring kingdom, the homicidal storms of Tuus, and the hypnotizing moths of Aerogreen, to find the stone of all power. This stone must be put into the hands of King Day to repel Gheel The Black, who has risen from his watery grave to take over the land, to smother everything that is good, everything that is of the light of day.
A bond develops between Day and Gabrielbut all is not what it seems. Wizard Dedlin Dane is an intriguing character, too. Because of his age he no longer is thought to be a vital resource with men and politics. It is thought that his powers are diminished. But, he is the knowledgeable one and the strength behind the greatest political move yet. Gheels curse has gone awry. And King Day makes a discovery shortly after there is a discovery made about King Day.
Beautiful descriptive language, bold dialog and super action scenes draw the reader into the story.
