At daybreak a dragonfly makes a meal out of the mosquitoes and mayflies that hover over the water; at mid-morning, mallard ducklings narrowly escape becoming brunch for a snapping turtle. Noontime brings a marsh hawk looking for a woodchuck or two, while at dusk a human hunter catches a largemouth bass with rod and reel. The night shift includes a mother opossum crunching a tiger beetle to obtain the energy she needs to carry her babies around.
