In the aftermath of her mother's sudden death, things can't get much worse for 12-year-old Abby Daniels. She has moved into the old high school-a building transforming into an art gallery and residence under the direction of her mother's will. Taking over the project (and custody of his daughter) is Lam Daniels, a man Abby has never met, and resents with every ounce of her being. School is no refuge. Tormented by the school bully and ignored by the other kids, Abby can't imagine who would have left her an envelope in the principal's office. In it she discovers what she thinks is a temporary tattoo.
