Larkin is a teen from a different space-time dimension living on earth who, as an apprentice world weaver, has extraordinary powers. But he must pass three exceedingly difficult tests before being accepted into the brotherhood of master weavers.

In this second book of The World Weaver trilogy, Larkin tackles his second test. He must go to Tlaxi, a planet in a different space-time dimension, find out why the people there have lost their life force, and help them revive that force.

Larkin's task is made infinitely more difficult when he is instructed to use his brains, not his power, to solve the problem.

As Larkin is about to leave on his mission, his best friend Peggy insists on coming with him. Larkin thinks there will be too much danger, and he's also not sure if an apprentice should take along another person, but Peggy finally persuades him.

The two friends quickly see that Tlaxi is beset by bigotry of the worst kind as well as monumental environmental problems-leading to a majority of the population losing their will to live. To set things right will require all Larkin's insights, brains, and above all, compassion.
