"Edie" Sedgwick (April 20, 1943 - November 16, 1971) was an American actress, socialite, model, and heiress. She is best known for being one of Andy Warhol's Muses. Sedgwick became known as "The Girl of the Year" in 1965 after starring in several of Andy Warhol's short films, in the 1960s. She was dubbed the "It Girl" and the "Youthquaker" by Vogue Magazine in the 1960s. In 1965, Warchol put Sedgwick into his all-male cast of "Vinyl", his interpretation of the novel "A Clockwork Orange". Alleged to have had an affair with Bob Dylan and to be the inspiritation for the Dylan song's "Just Like A Woman", "Like a Rolling Stone" and "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat". Also "The Velvet Underground" song "Femme Fatale" the flipside to their single "Sunday Morning" is said to be Nico's ode to Edie. Edie's dependant on drugs and alcohol lead to her early death in 1971. A fascinating book on the wildside underground of the 1960s.
