Each double-paged spread focuses on one letter of the alphabet (e.g. b) and has a large, busy illustration based on a favourite fairytale or nursery rhyme (e.g. The Three Bears). Around the border are little pictures of objects featured in the seene which begin with the target letter (e.g. bear, bed, bowl). Children are encouraged to say the name of the objects and find them in the big picture. The special Superphonics letter-pictures help make the link between letters and sounds.
