This work gives students the tools to find out firsthand what kind of weather we might experience in an imaginary world. 20 experiments explore the factors that determine weather - sun, earth, atmosphere and geophysical features - and challenge the student to find out what might happen if these factors became variables, creating "science-fiction weather". Students then create their own "impossible" weather models. Each experiment follows scientific procedure, providing a model for science-fair experiments, and is followed by suggestions for further experimentation. Through these projects, students learn not only science but also geography and maths. The experiments posit, among others: the equator as the axis of rotation; a 48-hour day; tidal action without a moon; a flat Earth and a non-rotating Earth. There is also a section on equipment needed and manufacturers' names and addresses.
